Charles Joseph “Joe” Hackett, 85, of Drums, formerly of Levittown, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 19, 2017 at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community, Drums.

Born on February 7, 1932, in Verona, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rose (Sheridan) Hackett and had spent the last year and a half in Drums after moving from Levittown.

Charles was a US Navy veteran who served during the Korean War, and was a member of Good Shepherd RC Church, Drums.  He was employed as a warehouse manager for Vicks and Pier One and also worked in sales of large motors all in the Philadelphia area.  He was a singer since he was five years old, he was a member of the Neshaminy Valley Singers and part of local theater.  He enjoyed building model airplanes and traveling to the beach.  He was also an avid golfer. 

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife of 60 years, Marcella (Kuhns) Hackett who passed away January 8, 2013; brothers Thomas and his wife Rachel; Raymond and his wife Mary; James and his wife Dolly; John and Donald Hackett; sisters Katherine Sells and her husband Bill; Eleanor Proctor and her husband Tom; a brother-in-law Theodore Kuhns and son-in-law Kenneth Silvestri.

Surviving are his daughters Shelia Frost and her husband Dave, Oxford, MI; Christine Silvestri, Fairless Hills, PA; Veronica Hackett, Freeland; Bernadette Jespersen and her husband Eric, Drums; Patricia Peters, Bethlehem; seven grandchildren Arron Hackett, Zachary and his wife Cortney Jespersen, Kristin and her husband Anthony Keiper, Christopher and Dakota Jespersen, Melissa and Erika Peters; four great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Abel and Adrian Keiper, and Kyrie Jespersen, sister-in-laws Bea and Rose Hackett and Barb Kuhns, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Good Shepherd RC Church, 87 S. Hunter Hwy., Drums on Saturday at 10am.  Friends are invited to call at the church from 9am until the time of the Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fritzingertown Senior Living Community, Recreation Department, 159 S. Old Turnpike Rd., Drums, PA 18222, Attention Dean.
