Barbara S. (Staber) Balliet

Barbara (Staber) Balliet, 84, of Fern Glen and formerly of West Hazleton, passed away early Saturday morning at her home.

Born in West Hazleton, October 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Molly (Williams) Staber, Sr. and spent most of her life in West Hazleton.

She was a retired bookkeeper for People’s First National Bank.  In her younger years she had worked at Price’s Dairy.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, West Hazleton.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of the past 65 years Walter A. Balliet, Sr.; three children JoAnn and her husband Steve, Fern Glen; Walter Jr. and his wife Cathy, Rock Glen; and Bruce and his wife Marlene, Drums; seven grandchildren Dawn, Heather and her husband Chris, Elvan, Jeremiah, Candi and her husband James, Bruce and his wife Lexi, and Molly; two step-grandchildren Steven, and Neil; seven great-grandchildren Tyra, Gavin, Ronan, Mason, Mia, Christa, and James, a step-great-grandchild Jacob; a brother Kenneth Staber, Sugarloaf; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 6 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5 E. Green St, West Hazleton, with her pastor, the Rev. Thomas N. Cvammen officiating.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org; the animal rescue of one’s choice; or her church.
