Anna Louise Boder, 89, a resident of the Laurels Senior Living Community, Hazleton passed away early Thursday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton, following a short illness.
Born in Freeland, December 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Mary L. (Welsko) Broskoske. Prior to moving to the Laurels three years ago, she had resided in Conyngham for 38 years, after having lived in many locations while her husband was serving with the US Air Force.
Anna was a homemaker for most of her life and was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. In her earlier years she enjoyed gardening and tending to her home, and in her later years she loved completing crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband John P. Boder, who passed away June 16, 1983; a son-in-law Paul Fisher, March 10, 2014; five sisters Augustina Grady, Jeanette Belli, Marian Ferry, Eleanor Sharkey; and Phyllis Broskoske; and a brother Joseph L. Brosk.
Surviving are five children John P. Boder, Sewell, NJ; Mary Fisher, Hazle Twp.; Thomas Boder, Mainville, OH; Susan Matechik and her husband Stephen, Navarre, FL; and Joseph Boder and his wife Socheat, Harrisburg; twelve grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 49 S. Hunter Hwy., Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening 6-8 pm. A Christian Wake Service will be held Monday evening.
