Albert G. Snyder, 90, formerly of Freeland passed away Thursday evening at Heritage Hill Nursing Home in Weatherly, where he resided for the past three years.
Born in Freeland on July 16, 1925, he was the son of the late Albert C. and Irene (Geoppert) Snyder and had spent most of his life in Freeland.
Albert graduated from the Mining Mechanical Institute in 1943, upon graduating he enlisted in the US Army and served from 1943-1946. He was a proud member of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe. Albert graduated from Penn State where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He worked for Bethlehem Steel Co. as a combustion engineer and for Dupont Corp. as an engineer in the explosives department. Albert enjoyed hunting and fishing at his aunt’s farm in Benton, and vegetable gardening.
Surviving are his brother Donald E. Snyder, Weatherly; a sister Carol Cipperley and her husband David, San Jose, CA; and a nephew Dale Clipperley, San Jose, CA.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday at St. Johns Lutheran and UCC Cemetery, St. Johns at 11am. There will be no public viewing. Harman Funeral Homes and Crematory (East) 669 West Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
